

The Ezra Jack Keats/Janina Domanska Research Fellowship was established at the University of Southern Mississippi through the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation, the Janina Domanska Literary Estate, and the de Grummond Children's Literature Collection. Astrid Lindgren's Mischievous Meg the 1992 version of The Bremen Town Musicians by the brothers Grimm and Ten and a Kid by Sadie Rose Weilerstein, which won the 1962 National Jewish Book Award for children's literature. The books she illustrated that were written by others include an edition of Trumpeter of Kraków, the Newbery award winning children’s novel by Eric P. Her book King Krakus and the Dragon received a starred Kirkus review highlighting the "rich color, sumptuous design, and a splendid peacock of a dragon adorn this old Polish tale of King Krakus who founded Krakow." Her own titles include The Tortoise and the Tree, Din Dan Don It's Christmas, Spring is, and The Best of the Bargain.

She also illustrated 23 books by other authors.

ĭomańska wrote, adapted and translated 22 books with her own illustrations. She won a Caldecott Honor for her book If All the Seas Were One Sea in 1972. A binding error has left the first couple of pages of the book repeated (so you get more of the lovely color pictures of Robin Jacques!), otherwise a very good copy indeed with just a hint of browning to edges and a very slight bump to top of spine.Janina Domańska (28 July 1913 – 2 February 1995) was a Polish-born American artist, author and illustrator.She is best known for her self-illustrated children's books. There's a "Snipp, Snapp, Snurr" story from Maj Lindman, a piece on mushrooms, a long section adapted from "A Book of Famous Dogs", and a look at the Hawaiian Islands. This volume, number 25 in the series, contains the work of some notable artists: Richard Scarry, Robin Jacques, Ruth Ives, Phoebe Erickson, and Barbara Cooney. Most notable about this series was the use of some excellent illustrators. Each volume also contained some non-fiction, including a biographical piece on a famous person, and a short description of a country. There could be quite lengthy stories, or short verses. The stories could be adapted classics, fairy tales, or new stories.

Each volume contained an excellent mixture of ten to twelve pieces, each illustrated by a different artist and taken from a variety of sources. "Best in Children's Books" was a series of 42 volumes published between 19.
